“My first job after leaving Uni was in the mail room of the Australian Taxation Office. Jobs were scarce and competition was keen but it was a foothold which I took hoping it was only the beginning and my career would eventually take off. The ATO provided tremendous training for what would become my profession as an accountant specialising in the SME sector.
I worked for a number of larger accountancy firms before co-founding what was Whyte & Di Placido in 1988 which is now Accrue. Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with a wide range of co-workers, clients and colleagues.
What I and my team do at Accrue is to be the solution to problems encountered by businesses and to ease the worry of coping with the financial demands of running a successful business. After 29 years in business I still get a buzz from doing what I do.”
“As a senior manager in the tax consulting division at one of the Big 4, I was on the path to partnership – but knew I wanted something different. I was lucky enough to meet the Partners of Accrue (then Whyte & Di Placido) at a social gathering who spoke of the niche opportunity servicing a smaller group of clients. Immediately I got a great feel and knew it was the place for me.
For me the choice to move to a 15-person firm was the accelerated and holistic learning and the opportunity to create a boutique firm and offering to clients. I was able to transfer my skills and learnings from my time with the Big 4 and apply this in an inclusive, respectful and smaller team environment.
At Accrue I look forward to coming into work every day. I have structure to my day and I’m immensely satisfied helping clients and friends solve their real business issues and helping employees to develop and succeed as individuals.”
“I came to Accrue with 3 years prior experience and was supported here while I finished the CA program. The learning culture at Accrue has meant the ability to continue to grow myself as a professional accountant not only through the internal and external training and development opportunities presented, but also through the problems I solve for clients and the interesting and challenging work I do.
From the moment I joined Accrue I was meeting with clients and assisting them with their issues. This has made work rewarding and enjoyable from day one. I continue to enjoy growing the relationships I have developed with clients over the past 7 years and look forward to continuing to do so over the coming years.”
“I’ve always felt very supported in my career development goals at Accrue.
I’ve had the opportunity to work on different issues for clients and services including superannuation, tax and business advisory.
When a change in personal circumstances meant I needed to relocate interstate, Accrue provided me with the assistance and flexibility I needed. With the remote access it was a smooth transition that has allowed me to continue to grow and develop through my connections to the Canberra clients, colleagues and business.”
